An installation by Clervaux - cité de l'image, in collaboration with Naturpark Our, the municipality of Clervaux and The Family of Man museum. Particular thanks to Ralf Schumacher and Thomas Heiser from the Emschergenossenschaft (Emscher public water board).

The work was created in 2008 in the context of a collaboration between the Emschergenossenschaft and the Fachhochschule Dortmund.

The work focuses on the change seen in the urban landscape of Herne (in Germany’s Ruhrgebiet) and its neighbourhoods.

The images show portraits of the inhabitants of Emscherbruch.

The view from the window is at the same time a view into the neighbourhood, into the urban space, sometimes even a view beyond familiar boundaries, into a distant world. The open window provides views not just to the outside, but also to the inside, to human interaction and dialogue.
