Denis Darzacq

The Fall

In his series “The Fall”, French photographer Denis Darzacq captures and immobilises the movements of dancers and athletes on the streets. The dancers mould their artistic performance based on the world of breakdancing and capoeira. Their techniques are characterised by a high level of individuality and spontaneity.

Nevertheless, the settings that form the backdrop to the images have been meticulously chosen by Denis Darzacq. The same applies to the clothing worn by the artists. Only their movements are improvised. The shots convey a surrealistic lightness. Bodies float in the air, rise towards the sky or else appear to be contemplating the ground almost meditatively.
