"Viewpoint" is a term which does not get much attention in everyday life.
However, if one escapes the everyday, for example on vacation, travelling or during a trip, this simple word gains an almost magical dimension. From a particular location the viewer expects an exceptional viewing experience. Such a perspective is motivation enough to climb steep stairs, winding paths or even a mountain summit.
The visual adventure offers a view of surrounding landscape. This is by nature certainly extraordinary, but not unusual because it is constantly present in everyday life. In the end not just the view from the high seems to provide a view on the vastness and beauty of the landscape, but also and especially the distance to the everyday life. It's about contexts, which man has to create for himself in order to first perceive his surroundings.
"Schauinsland" is a photographic work that deals with the perception of the landscape with light irony. The viewer should be aware of the fact that it may be a long way from simply looking to seeing.
