Fake Holidays
Objectively speaking, Reiner Riedler's images appear not simply unusual, but rather spectacular. A word that is closely associated with the notion of "leisure" in today's world.
Our regulated working environments make us feel the need to remove these constraints and leave behind the frontiers of ordinary life by escaping our routines. Powered by our imagination and driven by the influence of the media, we seek to experience a world of unsurpassed intensity and excitement. Expectations are high and the tourism industry is resourceful and more than willing to satisfy this demand, even exceed it. Artificial universes not only sell dreams and emotions, promote adventures and thrills, they also combine clichés and culture, using pomp, tones and colour to create a bright collage composed of reality and fiction, both abundant and monumental.
