Favourite Places
In today's era of social networking, the concept of "favourite places" is a popular one, indicating the favourite sites a person frequents. In "net lingo", these places are often awarded a "like" - for whatever reason, which appears to be mostly personal.
"Favourite places" are shared - or not - with friends, confidants, pets and family. What makes these places so special? Is it the landscape, its natural beauty, the open space, the visual range? The seductive colours, the captivating scents? Is it an identified sensation that they trigger? Here unspoken ideas are ruminated on and internal dreams indulged in. It is a place in which one can seek refuge within oneself. Favourite places tell us what we know, but are not necessarily in a position to understand. Maybe this is a place that has only by chance become what it is: favourite?
